During our first session we collected the seeds and brought them to our hotel grounds, where we allowed them to grow and strengthen. We nurtured several different varieties including yellow, apple, grey and orange mangroves, giving them the care they needed to develop in a protected environment.
After several months we held another Mangrove Day and transferred the young mangroves from our hotel garden directly to the beach. We planted them along our jetty and around the lagoon, giving them a permanent home where they can thrive and support the coastal ecosystem.
Mangroves play a vital role in protecting our environment. They stabilize coastlines, prevent erosion, support marine life and capture large amounts of carbon, making them an important ally in the fight against climate change. By planting and caring for mangroves, we help preserve biodiversity and strengthen the natural resilience of our island for future generations.
